The ‘Botox Lift’
Dr Bob Khanna specialises in Botox for what he has dubbed, ‘Total Facial Sculpting’. As well as having his own training institute, the Bob Khanna Institute, he is lead clinical tutor in facial aesthetics at The Royal College of Surgeons, so he knows his stuff. ‘With non-surgical treatments you can start at a younger age, as soon as you start seeing any signs of ageing in your 30s,’ he explains. ‘I teach Botox techniques internationally and am always looking for new cutting edge techniques. It is amazing what can be done with Botox and fillers alone’.
Dr Khanna’s non-surgical face lift addresses the same areas of the face as surgery would, but in a different way. ‘This treatment can be very successful and enough for many patients’, he says. However, it is to be remembered that Botox lasts for approximately three to five months, and fillers can last for up to a year. Here, Dr Khanna talks us through the non-surgical face lift.
‘I always start from the hair line down.
Eyes: ‘After treating the forehead with Botox, I will move on to the brow area. Drooping brows can defeminise a woman with heavy lids and saggy skin. Botox placed at strategic sites can create a ‘Botox brow lift’. I then treat crow’s feet at the sides of the eyes with Botox. If there is sagging and hollowing under the eyes, filler gives a rejuvenated appearance.
Cheeks: ‘The cheeks can flatten with age so I use filler to recreate volume. It also creates a mini mid-facial lift and pulls the face up, as well as reducing nose to mouth lines.
Lips: ‘For thinning lips and smoker’s lines, fillers can look very natural, and trout mouth can be avoided if done well. The corners of the mouth also droop with age and fillers can lift the corners.
Jaw: ‘I use fillers and Botox around the jaw area, jowls and neck, to recreate definition around the jawline and tighten and sculpt the face.’
The ‘Y-Lift’
A non-surgical face lift that uses dermal fillers to add volume back to the face as well as definition. Dr Tracy Mountford, founder and director of the Cosmetic Skin Clinic. ‘As we age, we lose facial fat, predominantly from our cheeks and gravity causes the tip of the nose to droop, the ears to elongate, the eyelids to fall, jowls to form, and the upper lip to flatten’, explains Dr Mountford. ‘Using dermal fillers we can restore volume loss and sculpt the face and cheeks as well as hydrating the skin'.
The ‘Y-Lift is designed to enhance the natural contours of the cheeks and to literally create a mid-face lift. Fillers are also injected into the nose and mouth lines, as well as the corners of the mouth to create a lower lift to the face. The results are immediate and there is little or no recovery time.
