Top style tips on how to dress a stone lighter from top personal stylists at NHJ Style Consultancy.
Oops we did it again! That post Christmas holiday bulge is always upon us when we are turning our attention to booking that longed for holiday. Normally panic sets in and we try to diet in an unrealistic fashion. But help is at hand in the wardrobe to help you get back on track.
The most important thing to consider when getting dressed or choosing an item in store is, does it fit? Fitted clothes offer a far more flattering image to the world of you. It is only you that will notice the lumps and bumps or worry about your waist or hips or thighs. We often are too self critical of ourselves noticing a specific area rather than the whole look from head to toe. The fit and shape of the garment plus key accessories will make a world of difference.
Not only a good fit when it comes to your clothes, but a good haircut plus good make up will set you up with a great basis for looking at yourself and to wear your clothes. Next up is some clever underwear! Don’t be afraid to seek out the big knickers. For trousers, skirts or dresses a pair that flatten the stomach of clinch in the waist will give you a great support and enable you to ease those items on.
The old adage of wearing dark clothes to make yourself slimmer backfires slightly as all it does is create a blanket rather than accentuate or change your shape. If you must wear head to toe black then your shoes need to be a different colour and if you have a slender waist pop a belt round it – again go for a pattern like this season’s zebra stripe or a bold hot colour. If you have slender arms then make the black top ¾ length sleeves and add chunky bracelets or a row of bracelets to emphasise your wrists.
Bold prints create a diversion as they are enhancing to a garment and are uplifting particularly during the latter winter months. If you are pear shaped and have good arms then a short sleeved patterned top with nicely flared trousers will emphasise the arms. And if you are cold then wear a bright cardigan over your shoulders which will create more volume on top drawing the eye away from your hips.
Always think of emphasising your slender parts, using underwear to do some nip and tuck work then choose colour over black.
