Losing weight can make you look ten years younger, especially if you go about
it in a holistic manner and you don't try and do it by dieting alone. If you combine eating a healthy balanced diet with some regular exercise then you are going to not only look good, but feel great as well.
Let me tell you three simple things you can do:
1. Drink a lot of water!
Nowhere will you see a more pronounced and rapid effect than in the face. Your skin will radiate as the water flushes out your system of toxins in the blood. I also recommend that you cut down on salty foods, as too much sodium will have the reverse effect under your eyes, and on your chin.
2. Get a move on..
The best way to look and feel younger is to move your body. This will help you lose weight by burning calories but also help you to feel great. Our bodies are designed to do one thing; and one thing only, which is MOVE. When we exercise we secrete what scientists call endorphins or happy hormones. These hormones make our body work so much better.
Dieting alone will never make you slimmer and look younger though. But exercise builds muscles - which burn calories even when we aren't actually using them. But before you start to panic, we’re not talking about an obsessive gym habit, just a comfortable, un-stressful exercise programme that fits in with the way you choose to live your life, – yes, such a thing does exist!
3. Eat!
Our bodies need nutrients from all the food groups if we are to function properly. Dietary advice has changed many times over the past thirty years
and some of the information can occasionally appear to conflict, but don't
give up. The key is to eat a wide variety of all types of fresh foods rather
than cutting out one or more of the food groups completely. At the back
of my book, in Section Three, I've included the most up-to-date
information on health and nutrition for you to refer to and dip into
whenever you feel you want to know more.
So forget the pineapple diet and aim for balance rather than perfection. Eat what you enjoy. Of course, this doesn't mean you should eat chocolate éclairs three times a day, but one cream slice once in a while isn't so terrible and certainly nothing to be ashamed of, or to hate yourself for.
Our bodies and preferences are all different and there's no set of rules which could guarantee the perfect diet for everyone. Go for variety and balance, and make sure you eat things you can enjoy – especially those which aren't too sweet or deep fried.
Above all, remember that natural, fresh products are best because the human
body has had years and years of practice at digesting them and can convert
them easily into energy. By following these simple principles, you will lose
weight and look ten years younger.
